Meet Henry Warhurst

We visited Henry’s Car Barn to meet founder Henry Warhurst. Henry’s Car Barn (HCB) has become the go-to spot for those serious about storing and maintaining their vehicles. We spoke with Henry in the private HCB clubhouse, squeezing in time to take a classic British sports car and a treasured Landy for a spin.

Henry, thank you for hosting us here at HCB.

First of all, tell us your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is actually the people who I've met through my journey at HCB. They’re now very, very good friends, which I feel very lucky to be able to say.

Tell us what a typical working day looks like for you.
A typical day for me starts normally with an ice bath and a coffee. I then normally head off to the new sites: Hampshire, Newcastle and London. Maybe one a day. Then I’m on the phone for the rest of the day, meeting new clients.

Tell us about why people choose to store their cars with HCB?
People like to store their cars with HCB because of the story. HCB has been around for the last 45 years, started by my father. We've now got 4 sites in the UK, with dedicated people on site for 24-hour access. The cars are kept on charge, the cars are cleaned and ready whenever the client wants them out.

Henry, tell us your top tip for investing when it comes to cars.
My top tip for buying a car is to buy something that makes you smile. You've got to enjoy it. You've got to be able to use it for the weekend. If it makes you smile, then it's the right car.

Classic or modern?
It's going to be modern. I am so bored of cars breaking down.

Race or Concours?
I race myself and I find Concours a little bit boring.

Off-road favourite?
My off-road favorite car is my Bowler EXR-S which is the car that gets the most likes on all my social media. And it puts a smile on my face as well.
